Tech Caddie Tip of the Week: Use plain English and Siri to add events in seconds
If tapping through your calendar app feels like more trouble than it’s worth, you’re going to love this.
With Siri, you can speak your plans, and your iPhone adds them to your calendar automatically—no typing, no menus, no tech stress. It’s fast, simple, and surprisingly fun.
🗣️ Here’s the Magic Phrase:
You can say something like:
“Hey Siri, add ‘Dinner with the Thompsons next Saturday at 6pm’ to my calendar.”
“Hey Siri, schedule ‘Call with travel agent tomorrow at 10am.’”
“Hey Siri, add ‘Doctor appointment in Avon on June 12th at 2pm.’”
Siri figures out the date, time, and title—and creates the event for you.
📱 How to Do It: Step-by-Step on iPhone
If you’re not already using Siri, here’s how to get started:
✅ Step 1: Turn On Siri
Open Settings
Tap Siri & Search
Toggle on:
Listen for “Hey Siri”
Press Side Button for Siri (so you can activate it by holding the side button)
✅ Step 2: Try a Practice Command
Say out loud:
“Hey Siri, schedule ‘Coffee with Bob tomorrow at 9am.’”
Siri will confirm the event and ask if you want to add it.
✅ Step 3: Confirm the Event
Siri will say:
“Okay, I’ve added ‘Coffee with Bob’ tomorrow at 9am to your calendar. Ready to schedule it?”
Just say “Yes,” and you’re done.
⛳ Caddie Wisdom:
You don’t need to fumble through screens. With Siri, your voice is all you need to stay organized.
It’s especially handy when your hands are full—or when you’re on the go.
